Careful kid, this is not your song.
Grunge music is a favourite style of mine. One of my favourite Australian grunge bands is Gyroscope. Gyroscope are from Perth and have relased music since 1997. I will admit I have not been a fan of Gyrscope untill there album "Breed Obsession" came out in 2008. "Snake skin" and "1981" off this album are 2 of my most favourite Gyroscope songs.

A few weeks ago gyroscope released a new album called Cohesion. This album is a little bit "heavier" than Breed Obsession, but is still is one of the best gyroscope albums I have heard.

Gyroscope has just released tickets to their upcoming 2010 tour. This is a very simple tour with only playing in clubs/pubs. But with $35 a ticket there is no way I am missing out of this concert!

On the 7th of May Gyroscope will be releasing a "Best of" album. There was a bit of an issue with this album becuase Gyroscopes record company "Warner music" planned the album, complied the set list and did a art work for the album without asking the actual band. The band found out about this "new album" when fans of their facebook page told them. I'm not sure why the company would do this with the band but personally i think its a shallow.

Check out the first single "Some of the places I know" off the new album.

You swore that I would crash, that I would never last
Ok so i'f youre only going to really read one of my posts then this is the post to read.
A band that I have been into for a few years has released a new album. I don't usually say this but I love every song on this album.

The band: Kill Hannah. I'm pretty sure you are reading this and thinking to yourself who the fuck is Kill Hannah. Turst me, you are not the only one. Kill Hannah have been around since 1993 and their first album "The beauty in sinking ships" was released in 1996. They are extremely famous in Eourope and England and are quite well known in America. But for some reason. But for some reason in Australia Kill Hannah is the biggest band you have never heard of.

I really like Kill Hannah's sound. It's a mix of light punk and heavier rock with elements of a dance beat. There songs are really easy to listen to and they are a sence of brokenness that is not too "emo".

So the new Kill Hannah album ia called "Wake up the sleepers". This record has not been released in Australia but is through Itunes.

Some of my most favourite songs off the new album are:
Track 1. Radio: This song a perfect start of album song. The dance feel fits quite well with the edgy rock feel with catchy lyrics.
Track 4: Living in misery: This a typical rock band slow song. With an acoustic guitar and a slow melody this song is simply beautiful.
Track 6. Why I have my Grandma's sad eyes: This song has such an eerie feeling to it. The lyrics are gorgeous and together it makes a perfect song.

So basically this post is to spread the word about this amazing band that no one knows about. If you enjoy bands like AFI, 30 seconds to mars and My chemical romance than I think you might love Kill Hannah as much as I do.

So why not check them out?

I'm a ghost and I don't think I quite know.
Right now I'm in one of those moments where I'm in my bedroom trying to drown everything out. For these kind of moments Kings of Leon is usually the band of choice.

I'm a huge fan on this Southern family band, each album they put out is differant but they never change their sound. Their songs are catchy but not annoying, sometimes insperational but always beautiful.

Right now I'v got "Knocked up" on the "Becasuse of the times" album on repeat. There is something about this song that helps me when I'm anxious or scared. Knocked up is not really my most favourite song from the band but there is something about the subtle guitar riffs that seem to settle me, and I guess that is what makes a song good when it fixes your peronal situation for even just the few minutes that the song is playing.

So what band or song helps you to chill when something is wrong?

I see you shine in your way go on, go on, go on
A band that I never thought I would get into, I cant get one of their songs out of my head! Its been stuck in my head for weeks and I was thiniking maybe after blogging about it, it might get out.

The band i'm talking about is Vampire Weekend and the song is Giving up the gun from the album "Contra". A few weeks ago the song was "ripe clip of the week" on Chanel V and since then it's been on my mind. I don't really have a huge intrest in Vampire Weekend but there is something about this song that has me hooked! Ezra Koenig's voice works well with this Indie bands sound, its just so pretty and relaxing but catchy at the same time.

The music video for Giving up the gun is clever and creative. It is the band playing at an indoor tennis match. A lady in red plays against a number of people untill she eventually plays a version of herself. If you look closely you can spot quite a few famous people in the video including Joe Jonas, Lil Jon and Jake Gyllenhaal.

I'f you havent heard the song or seen the video i strongly suggest that you check it out!

Your tokugawa smile and your garbage style
The Glastonbury Festival 2010 line up came out the other day so I thought that i would share with you the unbelievable bands playing this year. Glastonbury is a festival set in huge farm paddocks for 3 days in England. This is the biggest festival in the world and it has been going every year since the 1970's. Glastonbury is on every late June. Before I die I will defintaly be a Glastonbury. As my birthday is on the 24th of June i would LOVE to go for my birthday one year.

This years 3 day line up is amazing with bands like U2, Muse, Vampire weekend and Stevie Wonder. There are also some Austalian bands like Empire of the sun and the Temper trap who are playing this famous English festival. You can see the whole line up here. http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/

Also i got an amazing package in the mail yesterday. It was my 30 seconds to mars tickets. I thought i would take a photo and put it up on my blog. July is just too far away!

So would you like to go to Glastonbury one year or would you not like to go camping in the typical English weather for 3 days?

Shake it no more!
RIP Metro Station (2006 - 2010)

I'm sad (maybe) to announce that on the 25th of March Metro Station have decided to go their separate.

Now I can grantee that everyone knows who Metro Station is and if you don't then i am sure you know of their songs. Metro Station formed when Mason Musso and Trace Cyrus's mothers got them to hang out after talking about their sons on the set of Hannah Montana where Miley Cyrus (Trace's sister) and Mitchel Musso (Masons brother) work. Trace and Mason then moved to LA where they recruited Anthony Improgo and Blake Healy.

Now Metro Station only released one album but one was enought! The 3 minute song "Shake it" shook the world! The song was a perfect mix of catchy and annoying. It was one of those songs that you didnt mind hearing on the radio again after already hearing it 4 times today. My best friend Sheray found out that Jeffree Star and Hanna Beth are in the video. It is quite easy to see Jeffree with his bright pink hair but it is a bit more tricky to see Hanna.

Another Metro Station song that I like is "Seventeen Forever". This song is I guess a slowish song for a dance band. I think it's cute and i like the video with all the pretty lights.

So will we really miss Metro Station? My guess is probably not. Im sure the young people who worshiped that band for a year might but im sure another "Metro Station" will come along soon enough!

So tell me where you a fan of Metro Station? Did the song shate it get stuck in your head too?

We were the kings and queens of promise
Well hello my name is Elissa and I have finally been persuaded by many of my friends to start a blog. I'm quite nervous about starting but to hell with it and ill give it a go. I'v decided that this blog will be focused on music news, gossip and amazing bands that i have recently found and old ones that I love.

So im starting off my new blog with a band called 30 seconds to mars. Last week it got released that 30 seconds to mars are touring Australia in July. After having a heart attack i got a group together and today when presales went out we got tickets.... and we are moshing!

30 seconds to mars is an amazing American rock band. The memebers include Tomo Milicevic (guitar), Shannon Leto (drums) and Jared Leto (guitar and vocals). If you seriously don't know who they are then i strongly suggest that you take a look at their stuff. It is simply breathtaking. Especially the songs From yesterday and Kings and Queens.

I am very exited that Jared, Shannon and Tomo have picked themsevles up off the ground after a shocker of a few years when Matt Wachter who played bass in 30 seconds to mars suddenly left the band and joined Angles and Airwaves in 2007, then in 2008 Virgin Records filed a $30 million lawsuit, claiming the band refused to deliver three albums as required by its contract. According to the lawsuit, the band "repudiated" a 1999 contract in July.

So now im going to have to dig out my 30 seconds to mars albums and get ready for the awesomeness that is going to happen on the 28th of July 2010!

So everyone tell me what is your favourite 30 seconds to mars song, album or favourite member of the band?
